How do you settle your body?

I recommend doing several of these a day and up-leveling in times of need (aka times we think we don’t need to.)

Humming is one of the most effective activators of our parasympathetic system, which helps us rest and digest from activation. Take a deep inhale and hum as you exhale.

A gentle sway allows us to ground and feel into our body, begin the sway and then, if it feels good, wrap your arms around your body or bring your hands to your heart.

Breathe deeply into the bottom of your lungs, expanding down into the belly if possible. The bottom of your lungs is where the parasympathetic nodes are. Shallow or rapid breath will keep you in activation, fight or flight.

Ground yourself into the body and the support below. The intention of grounding to stabilize allows for it to happen whether or not your mind notices a difference; your body is grounding and receiving.

Sensation identification separates us from becoming our feelings. For example, saying I am sensing anger rather than I am angry. List out and bring your awareness to what sensations are present and where they are in your body. Allowing them to exist with you as the witness of them helps in healing and releasing.
